Practical, emotional and therapeutic support for rebuilding safety, confidence and function at home.
Our Home Recovery & Safety Support replaces traditional “decluttering” with a trauma-informed, Occupational Therapy approach.
We recognise that every object holds meaning, and every environment tells a story.
Change must be safe, respectful, and centred on the person — not the task.
Our Occupational Therapists and specialist support workers work alongside clients to make gentle, manageable progress. Together, we focus on creating safer, more functional spaces while supporting the emotional and cognitive needs that sit beneath the clutter.
How We Work
- We begin small — one surface, one task, or one area at a time.
- Each session includes emotional check-ins, grounding and reflection.
- Nothing is removed without consent.
- We proceed at the person’s pace, using therapeutic techniques to manage overwhelm, anxiety and distress.
- We support people to maintain changes through routines, executive functioning strategies, and ongoing stabilisation.
- When larger clearance or deep cleaning is necessary, we collaborate with Clearance with Care Ltd, ensuring continuity, safety and trauma-informed practice throughout the process.
Why This Approach Works
- It reduces shame and emotional overload.
- It builds confidence, autonomy and trust.
- It improves safety, function and access within the home.
- It supports long-term stability, not short bursts of change.
This approach is suitable for people living with hoarding, self-neglect, squalor, trauma histories, cognitive challenges, or overwhelming home environments.
